“When’s the good stuff coming?” I admit, that has been on my mind quite often when reading a novel that is meant to be ‘sexy’, ‘sensuous’ or even ‘full of erotic tension’.  Have you ever read a book where instead of becoming all woozy by the sheer hotness of it you just thought: “I wish they would do it already!”?

If that is the case, erotic short stories might be just right for you. I recently discovered these little dips into a sexy fantasy world and am now reading them as ‘sexy treats’ every now and again (ok, a bit more often than that). The fact they are short stories intrigued me as I did want a story indeed, however not one where I would have to flick and scan over a 100 pages before getting to the juicy bits. So a short but sexy read was just what I needed, or so I thought. However I soon discovered, like in every genre, there are the very lows and the highs of an erotic short story.

After reading (and, yes, masturbating) my way through about a 150 stories, collected in four different publications, I would like to introduce my personal, highly subjective recommendation as to what the best selection of raunchy reads was.

The Mammoth Book of Erotic Confessions – Edited by Barbara Cardy

Sub-titled the ‘largest ever collection of intimate admissions by real women and men’ I was at first suspicious (as I always am when it comes to superlatives). After receiving the 582 pages strong volume and counting over a 100 stories in the table of contents I was optimistic: Over 100 stories, there would have to be some good ones in there!

Now, after finishing every last bit of it I can honestly say: there is most definitely something for everyone in this collection of insights into different people’s experiences and fantasies. Obviously there are the ‘my first time getting spanked’ stories (Shades of Gray in short, minus the obnoxious characters and judgmental ‘there must be something wrong with you’-undertones). But there are also some fantasies, situations, combinations and fetishes that may have you gasping in surprise at how turned on you can be by something you never thought of – but also sometimes just raise an eyebrow, thinking ‘nah, not for me thanks’.  Some stories are quite ‘vanilla’ whilst others push it to the limit of what I was comfortable reading.

So whether you are after a bedtime-sweetener or a read that will let you go places you’d never go to in real life: this book’s definitely worth the (relatively low on Amazon) investment in your bedroom library!

Make Love,

The girls
